I was speaking to a friend last week. At this point I had become anxious about the coronavirus, everything in my country of residence had just been shut down to stop the spread of the disease.
My church was still open even though others had moved their services online, we were discussing whether I should go or not. I mentioned that I was confused because this is all so new, ‘uncharted territory’, I called it.
A lot of you have probably felt this way in the past couple of days or weeks, maybe you have been worried, anxious or afraid, that’s okay. But you should know that this is not uncharted territory, the whole premise is familiar, there is evil and you need protection.
The devil wants to convince you that this situation is different from the last time you asked for God’s protection or provision over yourself or your family. But the Bible says in Psalm 91, he will command his angels concerning you to keep you in all your ways.
So what can you do? Feed on the word of God through worship, Bible study and sermons. Take advantage of the shutdown to build your relationship with your loved ones. Pray over your family, community, and the world at large. Pray for the financially and physically vulnerable, pray for the health professionals on the front lines, pray for their families too.
Pray for the government that God has placed over you, pray that they receive Godly wisdom and that God directs their hearts to make the right decisions in this time. And lastly, when they do make those decisions, be obedient to them as God commanded you to be.
Through Christ we have victory over this situation, see you on the other side!
