We Were Made to Worship God

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go back to Pharaoh and announce to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so they can worship me.
Exodus 8:1 NLT

The exodus of the children of Israel from the land of Egypt into the Promised Land (Canaan) is such a popular Bible story. You probably heard it first in Sunday school or saw a movie about it, but if it’s new to you, then follow me.

For years, the people of Israel enjoyed the gracious hospitality of Egypt until they became so great in number that the people of Egypt (under a new Pharaoh), became so afraid of what they could do, and decided to enslave them. They groaned under the poor treatment meted out by taskmasters.

Finally, one day, God had had enough. It was time to deliver His people for the hand of their oppressors. Why? So that they could worship Him. God’s purpose for freeing His people was primarily to WORSHIP Him in the land He had promised to their fathers many centuries ago.

Before I gave my life over to Jesus, I tried and tried to write. I would weave words together to try to make a poem or something meaningful but it never really cut it. A few weeks after I made this commitment, I started writing. I felt as though the Holy Spirit had finally breathed His life on an area of my life where I had struggled for so long. I was saved to worship Him.

Every cell in my body received a new life, the breath of God quickened every expression of worship in me. My whole body now dances to a song of His own choosing. I am His and He is mine.

There’s a God-sized void in all of us. The filling has already been provided, we just need to make a decision to receive Him (Jesus). As always, here’s an opportunity to do so. As long as we have life, we’ve not gone far enough for His loving arms to reach us. Perhaps, you’ve tried filling that God-space with other gods or things but you know deep down that they’ll never be enough.
You can ask Jesus to come into Your heart and be the Lord of your life. Repent of sin and self righteousness and begin to worship Him today. If you’ve said this prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and lead you to a local church.

Hope you had a great Valentine’s day,
Cheers!

  2. I love your expression about a ‘God sized void’.
It is true. Nothing else can ever fill that void.
