The past with all its trappings
Came knocking yesterday
Bittersweet nothings poured in
When I opened the door
I gave it an inch
It took a mile
Dragging along with it,
Regret, longing, nostalgia
3 foolish friends
who often go everywhere together
Luring willing victims in with a lie
“The past was much better than the present, perhaps even better than the future (that has not existed yet)”
A pillar of salt stands
Just outside the gates of Sodom and Gomorrah
A testament and a warning
“Do not look back”
Or
“Look back at your own peril”
Yesterday, I shut the door just as quickly as I opened it
The past with all its trappings ran along
Dragging with it the 3 foolish friends
At the booming sound of my, “No, not today, not tomorrow, not ever”.
Amen?
Amen.

I loveeet! The flow of it and the weaving… Read so easily.
Indeed, not all knocking and visitors should be entertained.
