On Family

tyler-nix-V3dHmb1MOXM-unsplash.jpgI have always been enamoured with the concept of family, that everyone is connected to someone else. It is amazing that the world as we know it began with two people, Adam and Eve, and now there are over 7 billion of us with diverse tongues, tribes and belief systems each connected to several families. I have also personally felt the joys and pains of being in a family, and I often wonder how pain could be a part of something so beautiful. Perhaps the most amazing thing about it is that God has a plan for every family, and desires to see His Kingdom established on earth one family at a time.

There’s a constant spiritual battle because of this agenda, good vs. evil, light vs darkness… As I pondered on these thoughts last week, a prayer rose up in my heart and I thought I’d share that with you. Regardless of how much pain being connected can bring, there’s so much more joy in store if we would stay loving, stay hopeful and stay connected.

How did it all go awry?
How did family become a place of dysfunction, judgement and pain?
Let it be Your love that heals all wounds
Let it be Your peace that calms all storms
Let it be You at the centre
Reconciling the world to Yourself, one family at a time.

Family is still the root system for society. I still believe God has decided that each family is a cell within the organism that His kingdom. The DNA of the Kingdom of God should be the DNA of every family unit.
